Do I need any experience?
Not at all! Our classes welcome players of all levels, from complete beginners to those looking to brush up on their skills. Everyone starts somewhere, and we’re here to guide you through every step of learning this wonderful game.
Is this a good time even for a complete beginner?
Absolutely! We pride ourselves on creating a warm, supportive atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable learning. Our classes are designed to be social and fun, so you’ll be laughing and making friends while you learn. No judgment, just good times and patient instruction.
Which Mahjong rules do you teach?
We teach National Mah Jongg League (NML) American Mahjong rules. This is the most popular version played in the United States, and we’ll make sure you’re confident with the official card and scoring system.
How do I sign up for a class?
It’s easy! Just look for our class listings on Eventbrite. Each event post will have all the details and a simple sign-up process. We post new classes regularly, so check back often for upcoming dates.
What should I bring?
Just bring yourself and a positive attitude! We provide all the tiles, cards, and materials you’ll need. Feel free to bring a water bottle or coffee to keep you comfortable during class. We’ve got everything else covered.
Where in Kansas City are classes held?
We primarily hold classes in the Waldo and Brookside areas of Kansas City, with occasional classes at other great KC locations. Each class listing will include the specific venue address so you know exactly where to go.
How long does it take to learn?
Most people pick up the basics in one class and feel comfortable playing socially after 2-3 sessions. Like any skill, the more you play, the better you get! The good news is that Mahjong is designed to be enjoyable from day one, so you’ll have fun while you’re learning.
